Pro Humanitate (for humanity) invites us to use our ideas, knowledge, talents and compassion on behalf of humanity in all its difference and diversity.
Our Winston-Salem, N.C., campus houses an academic community of almost 9,000 students, with more studying at Wake Forest locations in Charlotte, Washington, D.C., and around the world. Our undergraduate liberal arts curriculum inspires a holistic approach to preparing graduate and professional school students. We graduate leaders with integrity and courage who use their success to make an impact on society.
It’s all about the journey and the experiences that carry you to your next destination. As our seniors journey Out of the Forest, they share some of their most meaningful lessons, memories and moments of self-discovery at Wake Forest.
For more than two decades, economics professor Robert Whaples has advocated for an end to the penny. In 2007, when he published an article about the imperative to eliminate America’s one-cent coin, Whaples received a personal note from Paul Volcker, the former chairman of the Federal Reserve: “Get it done, and you will deserve the Nobel Prize!”
The Demon Deacons capped off a remarkable 2025 season, capturing their second-ever national championship in program history and the 11th title in Wake Forest history.
The Pulitzer Center has awarded a fellowship to Wake Forest junior Evan Harris. The $3,000 award will support reporting on the impact of overtourism on Bali, Indonesia.
You won’t hear their names called or see them receive a degree from a dean. In fact, you won’t probably won’t notice them at all on Commencement Day at Wake Forest University. But without the 230 people of @wfufacilities, you wouldn’t see a handshake, hear a cheer or smell a magnolia.
It’s the graduates’ day, but it’s Facilities’ show.
Some of them are lifted 25 feet above the ground. They all rise before the sun. And they elevate the annual celebration of Wake Forest’s graduates to a level that delights and surprises 14,000 visitors a year.
