Study: How viruses shape microbe interactions

By looking at the ocean's tiniest microbes, researchers are gaining insights about the marine food web that may help improve climate change predictions. A study co-authored by Assistant Professor of Biology Sheri Floge brings together viral ecologists, chemists and physicists to find out more about marine microbes and what happens when viruses infect them.

Coming together for Hurricane Helene relief efforts and demonstrating the power of our motto—#ProHumanitate.

From collecting and palletizing donated items to creative fundraising (check out the T-shirts designed by Emma Engel ‘27), every effort is making a difference.

To order a “Mountain Strong” t-shirt, visit outreach.wfu.edu/helene or the link in our profile. A portion of the proceeds will support the N.C. Disaster Relief Fund.

From garden to kitchen, Wake Forest’s Campus Garden and Campus Kitchen are growing something special. We’re planting garlic to be harvested for TurkeyPalooza, where over 500 Thanksgiving meals are made from scratch for members of the community.

This partnership is about more than meals—it’s about nurturing a sustainable, interconnected food system that makes a difference right here in Winston-Salem.
